Inspired by the message in The Magic of a Moment
There’s a question I come back to again and again—one that’s small on the surface but life-changing when we sit with it:
“What do you want to be true?”
Not someday.
Not next year.
But now.
In this moment.
It’s a question that invites clarity. It forces us to pause and ask: What really matters to me? What am I building? What story am I living—and what story do I want to live instead?
In my book The Magic of a Moment, I explore how simple, present-tense questions like this can redirect the course of our lives—not with grand gestures, but with small, intentional choices made in real time.
And here’s the truth: moments are where our lives happen.
We don’t change in some sweeping cinematic scene. We change in the seconds we decide to speak up, try again, take a breath, write the email, or say “I love you” first.
Let’s explore how asking “What do you want to be true?” can become your guide for everyday clarity and motivation—and how you can start right now.
1. Start With One Area of Your Life
Don’t overwhelm yourself by trying to apply this question to everything all at once. Choose one domain—your relationships, your health, your work, your mindset.
Then ask:
What do I want to be true here?
For example:
- In your relationships: “I want to be someone who shows up fully and loves generously.”
- In your work: “I want to be known for making a real difference.”
- In your health: “I want to feel strong, energetic, and in alignment with my values.”
Getting specific gives you a target. And when you know what you’re aiming for, you’re far more likely to take action.
2. Use Micro-Moments to Align With That Truth
This is where The Magic of a Moment comes in.
Every moment is a chance to make that truth a little more real.
Want to be more present with your kids or partner?
Put down your phone for 10 minutes and give them your full attention.
Want to build confidence in your work?
Speak up in one meeting. Finish one lingering task.
Want to live with less fear?
Say yes to something small that scares you just a little.
These aren’t grand gestures—they’re micro-moves. But when repeated, they build momentum. And momentum builds change.
3. Anchor the Question Into Your Daily Routine
If you only ask yourself big questions when life falls apart, you’re missing their greatest power.
Try this:
- Morning prompt: Before you check your phone, ask, “What do I want to be true today?” Then act on it.
- Evening reflection: Before bed, ask, “What truth did I live into today?” Write down what you did—no matter how small.
These simple daily check-ins help you live by design, not default.
4. Don’t Wait for the Perfect Time—Leverage the Present
So many people delay change because they think they need more clarity. Ironically, clarity comes through action.
When you ask, “What do I want to be true?”, your brain starts to filter your world differently. You notice opportunities. You step into alignment. You begin to trust yourself.
This question puts you back in the driver’s seat of your life.
5. Make the Moment Yours—Every Day
There is no perfect moment. There is only now.
But now is enough to change everything.
Every time I’ve asked myself this question in my own life, it’s brought me back to center. It’s helped me reconnect with my values. And most of all, it’s moved me from thinking to doing.
Because what you do—right now, in this moment—starts making your truth real.
Final Thought: A Truth Worth Living
So, let me ask you:
👉 What do you want to be true—right now?
Please write it down.
Say it out loud.
Then take one small step today that moves you closer.
You don’t need to wait. The moment is already here.
And that’s where the magic begins.
Inspired by my book The Magic of a Moment, which explores how small, present decisions can change everything. If you’re seeking clarity, courage, or just a little motivation—start with the moment you’re in.
